Contest 2 – Beat Mayura: For this contest, practice by playing white against Mayura on position file ’06-5rk12B3ppb3p3p7PbpNQ382P2PPP6K1 w.fen’. Then during chess club show me that you can beat Mayura three times in a row on this position, and you will win a tournament carry bag for your chess set. If you have the latest Mayura CD, All 6 of these contest files are in the ‘contest’ folder. Otherwise, you can copy the fen line (copy = ctrl-c), paste it into Mayura (Edit > Paste Position), and save the position on your computer (File > Save Position As > Contest.fen) so you can reload it each time (ctrl-v) to practice.

Set Levels as ‘Fixed Depth – 10 moves’. Make your first move, and then click the green play button to get Mayura to begin playing black. After the game, reload the position and practice again until you can win consistently.

Tournament-style Chess Sets:
Excellent tournament-style chess sets like the ones we use at school, including large, triple-weighted pieces and a roll-up vinyl board are available to all Webb Chess Club members for $10. Others may purchase these chess sets in any quantity for $15 apiece. Contact JerryI by replying at the bottom of this page.

This website is dedicated to the promotion of chess for beginning players. When I first joined the volunteer staff at Webb Elementary, I was disappointed at the quality of the chess equipment available for the club. So I searched the internet and decided that we could obtain the best value for our investment in chess equipment at www.chesshouse.com. Since then, our Club and Club Members have purchased about 35 competition chess sets from that source. We are very pleased with the quality of that equipment. Anyone who is considering the purchase of a chess set should click and read
